Supervisors Study Options for Funding Community Organizations
"If the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors approves the recommendation made by a joint committee yesterday, regional organizations, including the Bluemont Concert Series, the Loudoun Free Clininc and the Loudoun Museum, could see local grants made in different installments during FY09, which the second round of funding contingent on the filing of fiscal reports. During the joint meeting of the Finance, Government Services and Operations and Public Safety and Human Services committees, supervisors supported the recommendations of the county staff to create a grant-like process to evaluate annual funding requests that come from regional organizations. The staff direction came fromt the previous board of supervisors, led by Supervisor Lori Waters (R-Broad Run), who wanted more of a link between the results of the organizations work and the taxpayer funding given to them."
